Commetrex, the leading worldwide supplier of fax and fax-related technologies to the telecommunications OEM and system integrator, has announced a major voice-technology initiative. Many of the finest names in communications have licensed Commetrex’ fax technology because it’s the most field-proven technology available. Now, as a logical next step, Commetrex is focused on adding voice and voice-related products to the BladeWare^TM product line.

The BladeWareVXML open-source interpreter was the first product of this comprehensive VoiceXML-based voice-platform product initiative. The addition of a VoiceXML capability to our BladeWare HMP media server is part of our overall development plan to augment the existing BladeWare fax server product offering to form a comprehensive voice-fax platform. BladeWareVXML is downloadable from sourceforge.net and is available under a GPL license.

In 2008, we introduced BladeWareVXi, the commercial version of our open-source VoiceXML offering, BladewareVXML. It is a significantly-enhanced version of OpenVXi, the industry's most widely-deployed VoiceXML interpreter. It comes with a commercial license, new releases, and full support.

Not surprisingly, many of our VXML interpreter customers need a VoiceXML application-creation tool. But there are few products available to meet this specific requirement, and the ones that are available are costly and complex, making them hard to afford and difficult to use. BladeWareStudio, Commetrex' VoiceXML application-creation tool, was specifically designed for the OEM.

BladeWareStudio, is an enhanced, updated version of App Center, which was originally developed by Vocalocity, a standards-based software company that focused on VoiceXML-based products for telecom OEMs. (Vocalocity is now a VoIP service provider.)

BladeWare Voice Server, currently in development, is a standards-based voice platform, with advanced voice-processing features, including faster-slower and loader-softer for voice playback. Higher-level features in Commetrex’ VoiceXML offerings are a VoiceXML 2.1-compliant interpreter, MRCP V2.0 client, with both SIP and TDM connectivity. Each of these XML-based features will be available as stand-alone components, fully integrated into a "thin" browser, and as a full voice platform, integrated with our BladeWare HMP media server.
