Roswell, GA, February 8, 2005 - Commetrex Corporation announced today that it has entered into a joint technology agreement with Paradyne Corporation related to Paradyne's patented products that implement the ITU modem standards V.34, V.32bis, V.32, V.22, AT&T 212A, and AT&T 103J. Under the agreement, Commetrex will optimize the modem software for execution on the Texas Instruments (TI) TMS320C6400 high-performance DSPs. Commetrex will also utilize the V.34 data-modem technology to produce a V.34 fax modem.
Mike Coffee, Commetrex' CEO, commented: "Commetrex has been a leading member of the TI Third-Party Developer's Network for seven years, offering TI's telecom-equipment-developer (TEM) customers a comprehensive product line of VoIP and FoIP licensed technologies. This agreement adds a major element to that product line, allowing TEMs to add terminating dial modem and modem-relay capability to their access-network and gateway equipment. Obviously, we will add V.34 fax to our BladeWare host-media-processing platform and the MSP line of PCI telephony boards."
Paradyne is one of the principal inventors of V.34 technology and the ITU standard, their involvement with the standards processes going back to 1977. Paradyne continues to offer high-performance dial-modem products. The modem software is covered by 22 Paradyne patents.
