Roswell, GA, January 31, 2003 – Commetrex Corporation has released the Embedded SDK
for its MSP-H8 8-line PCI analog telephony interface. The board gives OEMs a low-cost high-
performance one-to-8 line PCI board available with either FXS or FXO interfaces. The SDK,
which includes source code for an NT driver, supports the development of board-level
applications, but Commetrex points out that it uses the board internally as a PCM interface for
host-based signal processing.
According to Ben Feldgajer, Director, Embedded Systems, at Commetrex: “The SDK includes
all the board-level runtime software, as well as our I/O driver and all the support software we
developed for internal use. Also included is a comprehensive subsystem that manages the
various analog trunk protocols, giving the user of the included driver a complete system for call
control.”
“We use the on-board TI TMS320C5402 DSP to decimate the 16-KBPS codec’s sample rate to
8K and to compensate for the roll off of the low-noise sigma-delta converter. This gives the
stream-processing software an extremely low-noise, high-accuracy signal, suitable for any
telephony application, including high-bit rate data modems,” Feldgajer added.
The MSP-H8 includes up to 8 pluggable line interfaces that meet the homologation requirements
of Japan, North America, and the ETSI CTR-21 requirement. The board’s ‘C5402 DSP’s
internal RAM is augmented by 128-Kbytes of 10-nanosecond static RAM. These resources
make the MSP-H8 suitable for any low-density telephony application, including media servers,
PSTN-IP gateways, or IADs.
The MSP-H8 Embedded SDK (PN-70005) is $3,450, with no royalty payments. The MSP-H8 is
$295.00 and each line interface is $48.00. The OpenMedia™ for MSP SDK (PN 20112), priced
at $3,850, allows the OEM to add proprietary or Commetrex-provided media technologies
without having to develop a streams framework.
